NomadVillage selected for the first CIS La Estrella Social Entrepreneurship Incubator

NomadVillage seleccionada para la primera Incubadora de Emprendimiento Social del CIS La Estrella

NomadVillage has been selected to participate in the first Social Entrepreneurship Incubator of the Social and Territorial Innovation Center – CIS-CIT La Estrella, in Ciudad Rodrigo.

The first call received 27 applications, of which 20 projects were selected to join directly the incubation, training, guidance, and support itinerary. The other seven projects will also receive technical support and mentoring to advance the definition of their proposals.

Among the 20 selected projects are four startups, including NomadVillage, alongside initiatives promoted by individual entrepreneurs, third-sector entities, a cultural association, and a private company.

The selection was made considering five criteria: impact on the territory, with a weight of 25%; understanding of the problem and its target audience, 20%; project viability, 20%; motivation and learning capacity of the promoters, 20%; and originality or innovation, 15%.

NomadVillage and the La Raya Territory

In the information published about the selected projects, NomadVillage is identified as a startup promoted by Bruno César Alves Marcelino, with an initial scope of action focused on Fuentes de Oñoro and Ciudad Rodrigo, in addition to contemplating a possible coordinated implementation with Almeida, Portugal.

The project proposes connecting international digital nomads and remote workers with rural villages and communities through a specialized platform.

The proposal integrates different dimensions necessary to live and work temporarily from these territories: accommodation, remote work spaces and services, cultural experiences, and local commerce.

The model also includes measuring the impact associated with the arrival and stay of these professionals, with the objective of contributing to generating complementary economic activity, increasing demand for local businesses, and expanding their external visibility.

This approach is part of NomadVillage’s strategy to build an ecosystem connecting medium-term stays, remote work, culture, local economy, and territorial intelligence, with special attention to rural villages and territories.

A New Step in the Development of NomadVillage in Spain and Portugal

Joining CIS-CIT La Estrella represents a new step in the territorial development of NomadVillage on the Spanish-Portuguese border.

The incubation process will allow for progressive work on the value proposition, viability, and implementation capacity of the project, as well as providing training, guidance, mentoring, and connections with potential financing avenues and other local actors.

The first edition of the Social Entrepreneurship Incubator has the participation of the City Council of Ciudad Rodrigo and the Ciudad Rodrigo 2006 Foundation, and is funded by the “la Caixa” Foundation.

For NomadVillage, this process is integrated into a broader strategy to develop a cross-border model capable of connecting rural territories in Spain and Portugal with professionals who can live and work remotely for extended periods.
